YouTube money calculator

A YouTube channel typically earns $1 to $8 for every 1,000 monetised views (RPM). A channel with 10,000 views a day therefore makes roughly $300 to $2,400 a month from ads alone, before sponsorships.

Stop guessing which creators are worth it

Numbers help, but the hard part is finding creators who fit your market. Filter by niche, country, platform and reach, then save the best to your shortlist.

How it's calculated

  1. Daily views × 30 gives monthly views.
  2. Monthly views ÷ 1,000 × RPM gives ad revenue. RPM is what the creator keeps after YouTube's 45% share.
  3. We show a low and high band because RPM swings by niche, audience country and season.

Questions people ask

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

Most creators keep between $1 and $8 per 1,000 views after YouTube's share. Finance, software and business channels can pass $10, while gaming and entertainment usually sit nearer $1 to $3.

What is the difference between CPM and RPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what the creator actually earns per 1,000 total views after YouTube's cut and after counting views with no ads. RPM is the better number for estimating income.

How many views do you need to earn $1,000 a month?

At a $3 RPM a channel needs about 333,000 monthly views, or roughly 11,000 views a day. At an $8 RPM that drops to about 125,000 monthly views.

Do Shorts earn the same as long videos?

No. Shorts revenue comes from a shared pool and usually works out to a few cents per 1,000 views, far below long-form RPM. Creators with mostly Shorts earn more from brand deals than from ads.

Does audience country change earnings?

Yes, heavily. Views from the US, UK, Canada and Australia earn several times more than views from markets where advertisers bid less. A channel's audience mix matters as much as its view count.

Is ad revenue the main income for YouTubers?

For mid-size channels, sponsorships often earn more than ads. A single integration can pay what a month of ad revenue does, which is why brands look for channels with steady views rather than just big subscriber counts.

How do brands use this estimate?

Brands use ad earnings as a floor when negotiating sponsorships. If a channel makes $2,000 a month from ads, a dedicated video priced well below that is unlikely to be accepted.

How accurate is this calculator?

It gives a realistic band, not an exact payout. Only the creator's YouTube Studio shows true revenue. Use the range to sense-check rates before you contact a creator.
