Micro or macro for a product launch — what actually returned money?
We're launching a skincare product in India and a smaller run in the UAE. Agency wants two macro names for the trailer and a dozen micro creators after. Finance wants the opposite: skip the big names, put it all into 10K–100K. What has actually paid back for you, not just looked good in the report?

For a first launch I would not buy a macro trailer. You learn nothing except that a famous person held the bottle. We did that in 2024 and the site traffic died in two days.

Micro worked for us when the product needed explaining. A 40k creator in Pune did a three-minute reel on how she uses it at night. That one link outperformed a 2M creator who did a 15-second wave.

UAE was different. The mall crowd already knew the category, so a known face moved people into store. Micro creators there got us saves and DMs, not footfall. Depends if you need belief or you need a queue.

Mix, but not the way the agency pitched it. Use one mid creator to set the line, then micros who already talk like your buyer. Macro only if the retailer is demanding a name on the endcap. That's a distribution cost, not a performance cost.

Track the code, not the views. We give every creator their own code and a 10-day window. The pretty view count and the code redemptions almost never rank the same people.

Macro fees in India have got silly if you also want usage rights. You're paying for the clip to live on their page for 24 hours and then buying it again to run as an ad. Put that second invoice in the comparison or the macro always 'wins' the deck.

Our rule of thumb, not science: if the product is under about 1500 rupees and the buyer decides on their phone, micros. If it's a gift or a status thing, one bigger creator plus retail. Skincare sits in the first bucket unless you're already in Nykaa's top row.

Don't split one hero film across 12 micros and expect it to feel native. Write a point they must hit, let them shoot it in their kitchen. The ones we scripted word for word flopped.

Gulf micros are fewer than the decks suggest, once you filter for real Arabic and a UAE or KSA audience. You may not find 'a dozen'. Five good ones beat twelve who live in London and tag Dubai.

We killed a macro after the brand-safety review. Not a scandal, just a pile of old posts that didn't match a family brand. Do that check before the fee is agreed. Walking away after the contract is how you pay for nothing.

If finance wants a single number: cost per code redemption, after you include product, shipping, and the usage buyout. Views per dollar made the macro look efficient and the bank account disagreed.

Micro or macro for a product launch — what actually returned money?
This thread is a community conversation, and you can read it without an account. Replies are members' opinions, not a follower count. If you came for a number, look up the creator and open the profile for the stored snapshot. Find profiles from search.
Where do I see the follower count?
Follower counts live on creator profiles, not in the replies. Search the name, open the profile, and use the stored snapshot and the date if you need to quote a figure. This thread is only the conversation. Find profiles from search.
How can I contact a creator from a thread?
Use the official links on the profile. We're an independent directory, not the creator's agency, so this thread is not a booking form and we don't pass a brief on. Write to this creator yourself and ask for their fee. Directory plans are on the pricing page.
Do I need an account to reply?
You can read without joining. Posting a reply asks for an account, or a guest email that is not shown on the thread. A one-tap sign-in link sets the account up. Other open threads are listed on the forum. Member levels, if you want to start a thread later, are on the community page from there.
What are the rules for posting?
Be decent. Don't harass, impersonate someone, spam, or post a private phone number or personal email. A strong opinion is fine. Pretending to be this creator is not. The full rules are on the terms page, and a reply that breaks them can be removed.
Is a forum thread an official creator page?
No. A thread is a conversation between members. Profiles, with stored follower counts and official links, live in the directory and are the page to quote. Open search if you wanted a follower count rather than a discussion. A fluent reply is not a newer measurement.
Can I trust a follower number posted in this thread?
Treat it as a member's opinion. Stored follower counts live on creator profiles, with a date, and a reply can be wrong. If you need a figure, open the profile and quote that. The snapshot method is on the methodology page.
Does a forum reply update a follower count?
No. Replies do not write the directory. A count changes when a newer snapshot is stored, on the weekly schedule. A thread can be useful and still be out of date. The method is on the methodology page.
How do I find the creator profile behind this thread?
Use the profile link when the thread names one. That page has the stored counts and the official links. This page is the conversation. If you only have a name, look it up in search.
Who can start a new forum thread?
Members with a high enough community level can start a discussion. Newer members can answer. The level names and point lines are on the community page. A level is not an influencer score, and starting a thread is not the same as listing a creator.
Can I post someone's private email in a reply?
No. The rules ban private contact details. Public handles belong on the directory profile. CreatorFanBase can remove a post that shares a personal email or phone number. The written rules are on the terms page.
Is a disagreement allowed on the forum?
Yes. A polite disagreement about a creator's work can stay. Harassment, impersonation and spam cannot. Pretending to be the creator breaks the rules. A reply that breaks them can be removed. The full rules are on the terms page.
How do I report a reply on this thread?
Use the report control on the reply, or the contact form if you need a person to look. Moderation removes content that breaks the rules. A wrong follower count should point at the profile. Write via the contact page.
Do community points change a creator ranking?
No. Community points order members. Creator rankings follow stored follower counts, which is a different list. Mixing the two sends you to a fan instead of a channel. Those rankings are on the rankings page.
Can a brand pitch a creator inside this thread?
Don't drop a pitch into the replies. Advertising posted as a community answer can be removed as spam. Hire by writing from the official links on the profile. The rules are on the terms page.
