friendlyjordies is an Australian digital media collective founded by Jordan Shanks, a comedian and investigative journalist. The channel is based in Australia and is known for its blending of humor with serious political analysis. The platform has become a significant alternative media voice in the Australian landscape.
The channel gained mainstream attention through its aggressive and satirical critiques of Australian politics and mainstream media outlets. A major breakthrough occurred when the channel's investigative reporting led to national headlines and high-profile legal battles. These events established friendlyjordies as a disruptive force in political commentary and investigative journalism.
Content on the channel includes long-form political exposés, character-driven satire, and pop culture commentary. The videos often feature Jordan Shanks playing various exaggerated characters to explain complex policy issues or to mock public figures. The style is characterized by fast-paced editing, irreverent humor, and intensive research into government corruption.
The collective operates largely through a community-supported business model, utilizing platforms like Patreon for direct audience funding. They also earn revenue through merchandise sales and live comedy tours performed across Australia. Due to the controversial nature of their political content, they often rely on independent funding rather than traditional corporate endorsements.
No reliable public estimate of the collective's net worth is available. The channel generates income through a combination of YouTube ad revenue, fan subscriptions, and live event ticket sales. Much of their funding has been directed toward legal defense funds following high-profile defamation suits and other legal challenges.
The channel's signature work consists of its long-form investigative documentaries that challenge the status quo of New South Wales and Australian federal politics. They have also produced successful live comedy specials that tour nationally. Their work is frequently cited in the Australian Parliament and covered by major news organizations.
The primary platform for friendlyjordies is their YouTube channel, where they host their full-length exposés and satirical videos. They also maintain an active presence on various social media platforms to provide quick updates on political developments. Their website serves as a hub for community support and merchandise.
A significant milestone for the collective is reaching about 1.4 million followers on YouTube. They have achieved massive viral success with videos that frequently trend nationally in Australia. The channel is also noted for its ability to mobilize public support for investigative journalism and legal advocacy.
friendlyjordies has 1.4M followers in total, which puts this profile in the mega band (1m – 10m followers). The largest single audience is on YouTube with 1.4M followers — about 100% of the total reach.
Combined reach is the sum of followers and subscribers per platform. It is not unique people: audiences overlap, so treat it as a size indicator for shortlisting rather than a guaranteed audience.

Related questions
friendlyjordies is based in Australia and posts in English. For brands that usually means the core audience follows the same market and language, with a long tail from everywhere else — big accounts rarely stay local.
The content sits in comedy and education, so the people watching are self-selected for those interests. That is the useful part of a niche profile: a mid-size account inside the right category often beats a much larger general account, because the audience already cares about the subject.
If you need the same audience profile in another market, the country and language lists on CreatorFanBase let you line up comparable creators side by side instead of guessing.
If you are shortlisting friendlyjordies for a campaign, these are the facts worth carrying into the brief. Everything here is stored data, refreshed on a schedule rather than typed in once.
A practical sequence: check the lead platform matches where your buyers are, check market and language, open the official account to see recent posting frequency, then ask for a media kit and rate card directly.
Related questions
friendlyjordies's counts come from the platforms themselves via Apify YouTube public channel and are refreshed on a schedule; the most recent check was Oct 14, 2026. When a platform blocks a read, we keep the last verified number and show where it came from instead of filling the gap with an estimate.
Large jumps are treated as suspect: a sudden drop past our safety threshold is held back for review rather than published, which is why the numbers here tend to be lower-drama than screenshots circulating elsewhere.
